About

Our goal at the Golf Club at Windham is to offer a first class championship golf experience that golfers at every level can enjoy.  We aim to do that by offering reasonable prices for annual memberships, fair daily greens fees and discounts for the public, and golf event packages that are competitive with anyone.  We believe that our golf course is a classic of original New England design, and we intend to maintain its special character even as we update and improve it in the years to come.  We believe that our facilities are best-in-class, from our new restaurant and event spaces, to the renovated bar and grill, to the gorgeous outdoor decks overlooking much of our course.

When we talk about "original New England golf", we don't just mean our vintage 1922 course design.  We mean an ongoing design philosophy that is based on strategic and tactical adaptability.  Our golf course was designed to reward precise play through the air or on the ground.  There are no "forced carries" and all but our shortest holes are built to gracefully receive good shots whether they are high or low or rolling.  Our course rewards length off the tee, but punishes spraying left and right fairly relentlessly.  Our course plays fast and firm, and rewards a good precise short game.  Our greens roll true, usually at a speed around 10.  We don't play "target golf" at Windham, because our fairways roll with the lay of the land and there is nothing artificial added to what the land itself has dictated.  What you see is almost always what you get at Windham.

This philosophy is "ongoing" because we are working on the course constantly to make it even better.  2014 was mainly a year of restoration at Windham, as we renovated and re-built bunkers, brought our greens back to their traditional excellent conditioning, and cleaned up our ponds as well as a few decades of organics around the trees.  But we also opened two new tee areas on #1, and cleared ground for fairway extensions on #11 and #17.
