In 1929 the Realty Golf Corporation, the holder of two golf courses in the Albany area, was forced to liquidate as a result of the great depression. The Stanford Golf Course, formerly located at the Mohawk Mall site was turned over to shareholders, while CEO Ned Vrooman held the Western Turnpike Golf Course. Around 1950 the course would be turned over to the Szatkowski family to own and operate for over sixty years. In 2002 the course was purchased by The town of Guilderland.
