Pine Lake Country Club  was built in 1927 and designed by Leo F. Wolcott and is surrounded by Pine Lake State Park.  The course is cut out of thick woods, which makes for narrow fairways and lots of challenges from trees and hills.  There is a mixture of green size and running contour.  Many would be considered small but easy to hold most of the summer.  Fairway watering makes the course park-like the entire summer.

The spacious clubhouse carries a full line of equipment, plus a banquet room available for private rental and a bar area that serves sandwiches and snacks.  The course also has another natural resource: Ivan Miller.  Ivan has won over 130 tournaments, including the Iowa Masters, and was voted Player of the Year in 1980 and 1982.

Pine Lake has also been recognized by the National Golfing Foundation as being one of the six best golf courses in Iowa.  Annually, it is mentioned by a variety of polls as being one of the most beautiful in Iowa.  Number 9 is listed as one of the Hall of Fame holes.  Not only does the course offer beauty but the surrounding park has many activities including camping, hiking, boating, fishing, swimming and tubing down the Iowa River
