The original 54-acre estate was homesteaded in the late 1800s. Owned by the Blake family for 46 years until January 2007, it was purchased by residents of Orcas Island to keep it from being sold to developers for home sites. In April 2009, this group sold the 49-acres where the course sits to the Taylor family, a long time island family and avid golfers. Â
Designed and built in 1960, the course is reminiscent of old Scottish country clubs. Its concept took advantage of gentle rolling hills and natural water hazards to make play challenging for amateur and professional golfers alike.Â
