The Belvedere Golf Club was established in 1925, built by William Watson of St. Andrews, Scotland for the Belvedere Club of Charlevoix, MI. Today, Belvedere is available for public play from Mid-April to Mid-October.
Opened in 1927, the course soon became a respected tournament venue, most notably as a regular host of the Michigan Amateur—39 times in all. Beginning in 1963, Belvedere hosted the Amateur for 26 consecutive years. In 2003, the Michigan Amateur returned to Belvedere and was warmly received by the Golf Association of Michigan. In 2011, Belvedere hosted the Ladies Senior Amateur Championship, in 2013 it will host the Men's Senior Amateur Championship & in 2014 the Michigan Amateur will return to Belvedere for a record 40th time.
The historic club has hosted many of golf's greatest names including Walter Hagen, Bobby Jones, Gene Sarazen, Tommy Armour, Sam Snead, Horton Smith, Leo Diegel, Jock Hutchinson & Denny Shute. Tom Watson spent his summers at Belvedere and is an Honorary Member of the club.
The Belvedere Golf Club is available for play daily from April 15th to October 15th. Members of the club enjoy preferred tee times from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. daily - the public is welcome all morning long. In addition, twilight rates are available after member hours at discounted prices.
